Living Room

I’ve finished my first room and it feels great to have one room I can go and sit in without looking at all the things that still need to be done. It’s my new sanctuary for relaxation at the end of a long day.

This room is completely new. New insulation, electrical, drywall, trim, and flooring. The ceiling had ceiling tiles that I took down to expose the original tongue and grove ceilings. They were sanded, caulked, and repainted (they are still a little rough). I kept the original windows, rehanging the weights on new rope.

The fireplace is bricked up, so it is only decorative, but I wanted to make it my architectural focal point. The old mantel just didn’t fit the styling of the house, so I removed it and will turn it into a salvage project in one of the upstairs bedrooms.

Most of the decor I already had. My curtains are actually drop cloths. The windows are so tall, it definitely was the most cost effective option. They ended up going very well with the room.
